We’d love to welcome you and your child to Wynnum General Gordon Kindergarten. It is important to register your child as soon as possible after birth.

What year can my child attend:

Children can participate in a Kindergarten program in the year before they start Prep. This means children must have turned 4 years of age by 30 June in the year they attend kindy at Wynnum General Gordon.

Children can participate in our Pre-Kindy program once they are 3, in the year before they attend Kindergarten.

Check the table below to see which year your child is due to attend Kindergarten aat Wynnum General Gordon.

2025 Vacancies

Currently there are no places available for 2025.

Waiting List

Currently we are able to guarantee your child will receive an enrolment offer at our kindergarten from 2029 onwards.

We are unable to guarantee your child will receive an offer in 2026, 2027 or 2028. However, there is still a good chance of gaining a position in 2027 and 2028 if you wish to place your child’s name on the waiting list for these years.

Registering

Please complete the form on the Register page to register your child with our kindergarten. Once completed, we will reply via email to confirm you have been added to the waiting list. Our waiting lists fill very quickly so we recommend registering as soon as possible after your child’s birth.

Free Kindy

We are approved to offer Free Kindy to all eligible families

Inclusions

Incursions (puppet shows, presentations, visitors to the centre) are included with Free Kindy.

Additional costs

A $100 Confirmation Fee and $25 Membership fee is paid at the time a place is offered to your child. Each family is therefore a member of the Wynnum General Gordon Community Pre-School and Kindergarten Association Inc. and a family member is encouraged to attend committee meetings. You will then have voting rights at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in November.

We also ask families to contribute $40.00 to our voluntary building fund each term. This contribution is tax deductible.

Additional Funding

Holders of Health Care Cards, Pension Cards, DVA White or Gold Card & ABTSI Origins will be eligible for a refund of their confirmation fee.

Government funding may be available to support children with a disability to access our kindergarten program.

Whilst we endeavour to keep this information about fees and availability as accurate and up to date as possible, it is subject to change without notice.

Kindy Groups

We operate four kindergarten groups of 22 consistent children (aged between 3.5 and 4.5 years at the beginning of the year), with a total capacity of 88 (44 on any given day). Each group has their own fully qualified, registered Early Childhood Teacher, a qualified Assistant Educator and an Inclusion Support Assistant. A parent is often on roster as well, so our adult-child ratios exceed the national standards.

We operate a 5 day fortnight for 2 groups and 2 long days for 2 groups over a 40 week year, roughly in line with the state school system.

Pre-Kindy Group

We operate one pre-kindy group of 22 consistent children (aged between 3 and 3.5 years at the beginning of the year). This group has its own fully qualified, registered Early Childhood Teacher and two qualified Assistant Educators.
