“Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity.”
Kay Redfield Jamison, Professor of Psychiatry.
We know that Kindergarten-aged children learn best and most joyfully through play.
Fostering an early love of learning, through play, is what the amazing educators at our highly regarded Kindy by the Bay do best.
At Wynnum General Gordon Kindy, we believe that partnerships with families in a warm, safe and supportive play-based learning environment, are key in preparing your children for school, in their Pre-Prep year. We believe that connections to our wider community help develop a strong sense of belonging, and we are proud to be the only Kindy in the bayside area to offer unique local area excursions, like Beach Kindy and Wynnum Walkabout, as part of our program.
We are a not-for-profit Community Kindergarten, focused on delivering the best possible early childhood experience possible. All funds raised are directly reinvested in the centre.
2020 marked our 70th anniversary of educating young children.

Families come together to celebrate our first term and take part in our annual Easter Egg Hunt.
As our last local area excursion for the year, we decided to take a stroll down to Pelican’s Nest for an ice block and then over to the Wynnnum Wading Pool to see if any boats were sailing.

Last week the children enjoyed a special visit from Quandamooka high school student Ayla, who shared her cultural knowledge of dance, art, language and storytelling with us. Ayla read her Aunty Sandra's beautiful book 'Where are all the sea creatures?' before teaching the children how to draw a 'banggu' (stingray) and paint it using traditional dot style of art. The children loved having their face painted as a banggu, using authentic ochre from Minjerribah (Stradbroke Island). A wonderful visit filled with meaningful learning and connections. Thank you Ayla!! ... See MoreSee Less
