Getting to know Mrs Mel Berg

I’m Melissa Berg, and I work alongside Courtney and Claire in the fabulous Karragarra group. Our Little Shells are simply wonderful, and each Friday we have so much fun exploring, discovering, creating, imagining, connecting and learning together.

I have been a teacher for over 22 years and have loved every moment—especially the joy that comes from being an early childhood educator. I’ve had the pleasure of working with children from Pre-Kindy through to Year 3, but my heart truly lies in the early years. Watching and guiding young children as they grow in confidence, learn to communicate, explore, problem-solve, and express themselves creatively and imaginatively is incredibly rewarding and such a privilege.

Every small achievement feels like a big celebration. I feel a deep sense of purpose knowing that my dedication to teaching supports children’s wellbeing, learning and happiness during these important foundational years.

My husband, Tim, and I have two creative and busy daughters, Isabella and Amelia, who both attended Wynnum General Gordon Kindergarten and discovered their love of learning here. As a family, we love exploring the great outdoors—camping, hiking, enjoying water sports, snow skiing, and spending time with friends and family.

I often laugh with my daughters when they say they wish they were still at Kindy—I tell them how lucky I am that I still get to go almost every day! I feel so grateful to be part of the wonderful Wynnum General Gordon Kindergarten community, working alongside dedicated educators and supportive families to nurture each child’s unique learning journey.
